Symptom
ALV Grid: Links are opened in the ALVGrid inside the internet browser (e.g. in a SAP GUI embedded in SAP Enterprise Portal). Instead of opening in seperate window, links are opened in the same window.
Other terms
Browser setting for SAP GUI, ALV Grid opened in browser, SAP GUI using browser, links cannot be opned in seperate window, hyperlinks in seperate window, links are opened in seperate window, Hyperlinks in ALV Grid not opening in same window.
Reason and Prerequisites
Browser settings will decide whether the links should be opened in the same window or a seperate browser.
Solution
The navigation to a URL in ALV Grid is done with the ShellExecute API of windows. The behavior of “ShellExecute” is defined in windows using the registry settings which is defined by Internet Explorer Settings.
Browser will decide whether the links inside a window should be opened in same window or a seperate window.
To look for the browser settings in Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to:
Main Menu ‘Tools’ -> ‘Internet Options’ -> go to the Tab ‘Advanced’ -> In the advance tab under the grouping ‘Browser’ there is an entry called “Reuse windows for launching shortcuts” with a check box besides it. If this check box is checked then the links will be opened in same window or else links will be opened in seperate window.
