Reason and Prerequisites

After a PI-AE 7.1 installation or a higher release you have to configure your system. This is a mandatory post installation step called “Running the Configuration Wizard”.
Before running the Wizard, it is recommended to update the following
Software Components (SCs) to the highest available patch level:
Life Cycle Management:
LM CONFIGURATION (LMCFG)LM CONFIGURATION WIZARD (LMCTC)

Adapter Engine:
XI ADAPTER FRAMEWORK (SAPXIAF)MESSAGING SYSTEM SERVICE (MESSAGING)

This Wizard Template is available since Release 7.10.
A prerequisite to run the Wizard is that the system was installed with
the AE Installer (SAPInst). All PI services must be up and running.
Insure that the User Management (UME) of your de-central Adapter Engine is connected to the Integration Server client. All PI service users must exist in your system.
Recommendation:
After CTC Wizard execution it is recommended to check the Exchange Profile Connection explicitly by calling the URL “http://: /exchangeProfile”.
All properties must be visible.

Solution

To run the CTC Wizard, start the SAP NetWeaver Administrator and navigate to “Configuration Management –> Scenarios –> Configuration Wizard”. Depending on your release do the following:

Release 7.10 / 7.11:

Select in the drop down list “Initial Configuration –> PI Adapter Engine initial setup” or “All Configuration tasks -> PI Adapter Engine initial setup”.

Release 7.20:

Click on link “Functional Unit Configuration UI”. Select Group “Advanced Adapter Engine”, Functional Unit “Advanced Adapter Engine”. All required Functional Units are selected automatically.

FAQs:

Question 1: When I enter the ‘SLD Data Supplier’ and ‘SLD Client’ User/Password in the “Configuration of System Landscape Directory (SLD)” input screen, they are incorrect. The displayed default user names are “SLD_DS_” and “SLD_CL_“. Which data do I have to enter here?
Answer: You have to enter the connection data of the SLD server, at which your Integration Server is registered. This can either be the Integration Server’s SLD or a remote SLD. Therefore you have to change the default user’s names to “SLD_DS_” and “SLD_CL_” in any case.

Question 2: I have no ABAP UME to the Integration Server client configured. Can I nevertheless execute the CTC Wizard?
Answer: Yes. This is not supported, but possible. Make sure that the users PIAFUSER and PIRWBUSER exist and have the same role assigned as in ABAP. Note: For successful runtime at least all technical PI users must exist on the Adapter Engine and have correct user/role assignment.

Question 3: Self Registration of the de-central Adapter Engine has failed. What can I do?
Answer: Check the following:
Check the ExchangeProfile Connection. Call URL “http://: /exchangeProfile”. The properties must be visible. If not, navigate to “Connection” and check the connection values.Make sure that the users PIAFUSER and PIRWBUSER exists on the AE system, are not locked, have the same password as defined in the Exchange Profile and have the User-Group/Role assignment inherited from the connected ABAP UME (compare the ABAP User-Role assignment).Make sure that the target system is available. The PI hub must have the same or a higher release than your AE, but not a lower one.Restart application “com.sap.aii.af.app” manually and access the default trace. In case of errors you should find further details about the error there.check note 1315998

Question 4: Do you provide a “Trouble Shooting Guide” for PI-AE?
Answer: Yes. See note 1060264 how to find this guide.

Question 5: My Integration Server is not running in default client 001, but in a different one. Can I connect a de-central AE to such a system?
Answer: Yes. Prerequisite: ABAP UME uses the new client.

Question 6: I receive in step “Synchronize the SLDAccessor” the error message “Error: Catching SLDException: ‘Failed to initialize ExchangeProfile properties. Reason: Konnte Konfigurationsdaten (ExchangeProfile/aii.properties) nicht lesen’. Cannot synchronize the SLDAccessor”. What can I do?
Answer: The Integration Server access data is not correct. Cancel and restart the setup. See note 1358958 for details.

Question 7: I receive an error message in step “Check Exchange Profile Accessibility”. What is the reason and what can I do?
Answer: You have entered incorrect data to access the Exchange Profile or the Integration Server (IS) is not available. (The Exchange Profile is stored on the Integration Server). You can modify the access data by entering them manually at:
http://: /exchangeProfile –> Connection

Press ‘Set’ after that. If they are correct the next page displays the Exchange Profile data. Restart the initial setup. See also note 1358958.
