2 Pre-Installation

=======================================================================
———————–————————–
ABAP, ABAP+Java: Installation/system copy: apply most recent R3load
Symptom:
As of SAP Basis 7.00, LCHR fields are no longer mapped to LONG but to CLOB. It depends on the number of characters whether CLOB or VARCHAR are used.
In case of Unicode, all fields with more than 666 characters are mapped to CLOB.
Cause:
It turned out that CLOB is not suitable for performance. As 2000 is not the hard limit (this would be 4000), we decided to define 4000 for the limit as of SAP Basis 7.00.
Solution:
Download the most recent R3load from the Software Distribution Center at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Downloads -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 -> Entry by Component -> Application Server ABAP -> SAP Kernel 7.00 <32 or 64 Bit> -> – Oracle – R3LOAD

———————–————————–
NFS-V4 file system: create ora on NFS server
If you use NFS-V4 file system, then you have to create the
ora user on the NFS server. You can
do this either manually or by running
“Operating System Users and Groups”.
This user must have the same user ID as the ora user
on the database server.
Otherwise, you get the error message
“FSL-02098 Could not change owner of …”
during the installation of the database instance.

———————–—————————
Sapinst create sapdata[5|6|7|...] directories under /(root) directory.
Solution:
Stop the installation after selecting your installation option
update control.xml as follows:
old:
OraCom.prototype._importRow_tORA_SapdataNodes = function() {

for ( var i=1; i < 5; i++ ) {
new:
OraCom.prototype._importRow_tORA_SapdataNodes = function() {
...
...
for ( var i=1; i < 20; i++ ) {
Restart the installation.

ABAP+Java, Java: Hot News: Oracle 10g JDBC drivers

The Oracle 10g JDBC drivers delivered with SAP NetWeaver 2004s and Business Suite 2005 contain a bug which, under certain circumstances, can cause data loss when writing on the database.
This bug is fixed with Oracle 10.2.0.2.
Before you start the installation, you must update the software component from which the JDBC driver is taken to version 10.2.0.2. Depending on your configuration, this is the database software itself, the Oracle Instant Client, or the driver delivered by SAP according to Note 915079.
You do not need to update the database software if you do not use the JDBC driver included in it.
For more information, see Note 939424.

Oracle 10.2.0: BRCONNECT “check” function returns many alert errors MISSING_STATISTICS
Solution:
To solve the problem create the missing statistics with the following command:
brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t missing
See also SAP Note 1284406.
——————–—————————
Java, Java Add-In: Error in step “createOracleStatisticsJava”
Symptom:
You changed the default value for the Oracle database Java schema (default value “SAPSR3DB” with a value of your choice.
During installation step “createOracleStatisticsJava”, you find the following error in brconnect.log:
BR0824E Owner ‘SAPSR3DB’ not found in database or not SAP owner
Solution:
Proceed as follows:
1. Edit keydb.xml.2. Search for dbSchemaJava.3. Replace default value “SAPSR3DB” with your correct java schema value:

DB]]>

Solution:
1. Search in control.xml for the following entry:
NWDBora.prototype.setDBUserEnvironment = function(nwusers, cdroot)…
…2. Replace the following line:
if ( installer.onUnix() && OraCom.isDbHost(nw)) {
with the following line:
if ( installer.onUnix() && OraCom.isDbHost(nw) && !nw.
isAddinInstallation() ) {3. Restart Sapinst with the option “Continue old installation”.

—————————————————
Linux: inst. using reiserfs, apply SAP Note 914177
If you install on Linux using reiserfs, mount the file system as described in SAP Note 914177.
Otherwise the installation may abort due to errors during the database creation.

————–—————————-
Maximum of 2-3 parallel R3load processes per CPU
We recommend that you configure only a maximum of 2-3 parallel R3load processes per CPU. The default for the installation is 3 parallel R3load processes. Do not enter a value greater than ‘3′ in the field “Number of Parallel Jobs” on the screen “SAP System Database Import”.
Otherwise SAPinst may abort and you may find an error message like the following in SAPAPPL1.log:
(DB) ERROR: DDL statement failed
(CREATE UNIQUE INDEX “BBP_PDHCF~0″ ON “BBP_PDHCF” ( “CLIENT”, “GUID” )
DbSlExecute: rc = 99
(SQL error 12801)
error message returned by DbSl:
ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P038
ORA-00018: maximum number of sessions exceeded

Problems while Oracle Universal Installer is running
If you encounter problems while the Oracle Universal Installer is running, check SAP Notes 841728 and 978272.

————————–————————-
Updating SAP-Specific Files in the Oracle stage area
Use
SAPinst extracts the Oracle RDBMS software to the staging area, usually /oracle/stage/102_64/database.
The “SAP” folder located in /oracle/stage/102_64/database contains SAP-specific scripts as well as the response files.
Before starting the Oracle software installation, you need to update this SAP folder so that the newest versions of the scripts or response files are used.
Procedure
1. Rename the original “SAP” folder by performing one of the following:mv /oracle/stage/102_64/database/SAP
/oracle/stage/102_64/database/SAP_ORIGmv /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP
/oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP_ORIG2. Download the file RDBMS_SAP_32.zip (for 32-bit platforms) or RDBMS_SAP_64.zip (for 64-bit platforms) attached to SAP Note 819830 and copy it to a temporary location such as /tmp3. Extract the zip file by performing one of the following:cd /oracle/stage/102_64/database
unzip /tmp/RDBMS_SAP.zipcd /oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1
unzip /tmp/RDBMS_SAP.zip
You should now see the directory “SAP” extracted with the updated
version of SAP-specific files.
————————–————————-
NFSv4-Mount SOLARIS 10 : ERROR FCO-00011
Using NFSv4-Mount on SOLARIS 10 you may get the following error message:
FCO-00011 The step setPermissions
Workaround:
Create the required user on the sharing server manually and repeat the installation step.
Note:
This problem should not occur if you use central user management (for example LDAP, YP).
————————–————————-
Wrong path to RUNINSTALLER on SAPinst dialog “SAPinst now stops the installation…you must install the Oracle database as follows…”
Symptom:
The path to RUNINSTALLER can be wrong on the SAPinst dialog for some UNIX operating systems.
Solution:
The correct path for the following operating systems is:
1. For the Oracle database installation:LINUX*, SOLARIS*, HP_IA64:
/oracle/stage/102_<32 or 64>/database/SAP/RUNINSTALLERAIX* and HP_PARISC:
/oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/SAP/RUNINSTALLER1. For deleting the Oracle database software:LINUX*, SOLARIS*, HP_IA64:
/oracle/stage/102_<32 or 64>/database/runInstallerAIX* and HP_PARISC:
/oracle/stage/102_64/database/Disk1/runInstaller
