Inst. guide correction: instance number must beuniqueon a host
Symptom:
The following paragraph in “Basic SAP System Parameters” –> Table “SAP System Instances, Hosts, and Ports” –> Parameter “Instance Number” is wrong. You can skip and ignore it:
(…)
If you want to install an additional application server instance, you must use exactly the same instance number as the existing primary application server instance.
(…)
Solution:
Keep in mind, that the instance number must be unique on a host. That is, if more than one SAP instance is running on the same host, these
instances must be assigneddifferentnumbers.

HA Java: SAPinst hangs during deployment
Symptom: SAPinst hangs during deployment in a HA setup. SDM logs say that SDM is waiting for a control instance of the cluster to start.
Cause:
SDM uses as a SDM host the local host of the system on which it was installed, not the HA virtual host.
SDM requests JStartUp to start the central instance and asks regularly JStartUp if the instance is up and running.
JStartUp returns a list with instances and SDM searches in it for a control instance running on a host the same as SDM host.
But the control instance on HA system is running with the virtual host which is not equal with the SDM host (local host).
Solution:
Apply SAP Note 757692.

Although you perform a Unicode installation, SAPinst might also ask for the non-Unicode kernel DVD. Therefore have this DVD available for the installation.

search for the keyword “negdat:” and add “CLU4″ and “VER_CLUSTR” to this line.2. Modify the TSK file (most probably SAPCLUST.TSK) BEFORE R3load import is (re-)started;
search for the lines starting with “D CLU4 I” and “D VER_CLUSTR I” and change the status (i.e. “err” or “xeq”) to “ign” or remove the lines.

Delete usagetype.properties file manually due to security reasons
Symptom:
Once the installation with SAPinst has finished successfully, you have to manually delete the usagetype.properties file.
This file contains data that is not fully secure. It is possible that the data might be cracked if access is available for a long period. The data might be outdated by that time in any case, but we cannot guarantee this because it depends on how you use the system.
Solution:
Proceed as follows:
1. On UNIX, change to directory /usr/sap/
On Windows, change to directory

Dealing safely with installation directories
Keep all installation directories until you are sure that the system, including all instances, is completely and correctly installed. Once the system is completely and correctly installed, make a copy of the installation directories with all their contents and save it to a physically separate medium, such as a DVD or a USB drive separate from your installation hosts. This might be useful for analyzing issues occurring later when you use the system. For security reasons, do not keep installation directories on installation hosts, but make sure that you delete them after saving them separately.

ABAP+Java, Java, EPC: Deploy additional SCAs
If you have installed an SAP system with usage type or software unit EPC, you have to perform the following manual steps:
1. Make sure that the installed SAP system has at least SPS 11. For more information, see also SAP Note 982502.2. Download the following software archives (SCAs) from SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks:
SAPEU**_*.SCA (CAF EU 7.00)
UWLJWF**_*.SCA (UWL AND COLL PROCESS ENGINE 7.00)
For more information on how to download SCAs from SAP Service Marketplace, see the documentation “SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) Support Package Stack Guide” available at http://service.sap.com/installnw70 -> Maintenance.
Make sure that the version of the downloaded SCAs is the same as the version of the installed SAP system. For example, if your SAP system has SPS 11, then the SCAs also need to have SPS 11.3. Deploy these SCAs as described in “Deploying New Software Components” in the documentation “Java Support Package Manager” which is available at “http://help.sap.com/nw70 -> Knowledge Center for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) -> Supplementary Information [open] -> SAP NetWeaver Library [EN] [DE] -> SAP Library -> SAP NetWeaver Library -> SAP NetWeaver by Key Capability -> Solution Life-Cycle Management by Key Capability -> Software Life-Cycle Management -> Software Maintenance -> Java Support Package Manager”.

Symptom:
Section “Additional Information –> Configuring System Landscape Directory” is not complete.
Solution:
Replace this section with the following:
********************************************************************
Initial Technical Configuration for the System Landscape Directory (SLD)
SAPinst automatically performs some initial technical configuration steps for the System Landscape Directory (SLD) during the installation:
If you chose the option Register in existing central SLD, SAPinst automatically configures the connection of the system being installed to an existing central SLD.If you chose the option Configure a local SLD, SAPinst automatically sets up and configures a local SLD during the installation.
However, you might have to perform these steps manually if you want to change existing parameters or if you want to set additional parameters.
SAPinst performs the following steps:
SAPinst configures SLD security roles.SAPinst configures server and persistence parameters.SAPinst performs the initial data import.SAPinst configures the SLD bridge.
You can find a detailed description of how to perform these steps manually in the documentation “Post Installation Guide . System Landscape Directory of SAP NetWeaver 7.0″ on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/installNW70 -> Installation Configuration .
