Symptom

Messages are stuck in a wrong status in the Message Overview or the counter shows a number that is different from the actual number of XI Messages on the database. E.g. the page shows some Messages that are in a Scheduled status. But when navigating to the detailed Message list in Message Monitoring by clicking on the counter, these Messages are already in a final status. Or the number of Messages shown in the Message Overview and in the Message Monitoring is different.

Reason and Prerequisites

Sometimes the final status change from a processing status to the final status of an XI Message is not reported. So the Message Overview is not notified of this event.
Solution

With this note we deliver in a patch possibilities to synchronize the data from the Message Overview with the actual XI Messages in the database. If inconsistencies occur, it’s possible to manually correct the data. To be able to use this functionality, please first make sure your XI/PI is at least on the below listed versions or a newer one.
There are two options available:
The first option, to synchronize the data, only checks Messages in a non final status. This can help, if the Message Overview still shows Messages in the columns “Errors” or “Scheduled” although these Messages are already successfully processed or finally cancelled. During execution, the data used in the Message Overview is compared with the XI Messages in the database and corrected if neccessary. To start the programm, the following URL must be typed in the in the browser:
http://: /mdt/monitor/message_statistics.jsp?syncData=trueThe second option can be used to completely rebuild the data for the Message Overview. Please note that this can take a long time and uses significant ammount of system ressources. All the data for the Message Overview is deleted first and afterwards re-created by accessing the XI Messages that are currently in the database. So, the execution time is strongly depending on the number of XI Messages in the database. To start the process, the following URL must be typed in the in the browser:
http://: /mdt/monitor/message_statistics.jsp?rebuildData=true

The described correction is part of the following (and newer) Support Packages:
XI 3.0 SP25XI 7.0 SP20XI 7.01 SP05XI 7.02 SP02PI 7.10 SP09PI 7.11 SP03

For older Support Packages, the correction is available as a patch. Please update the software components of the Adapter Engine to the patch levels maintained in section “SP Patch Level” of this note or use newer versions.
The archives and the support package stack guide can be found on the SAP Service Marketplace as described in SAP Note 952402.
