Migration of workload statistics data to NW2004s (2)
[ST03] [ST03N] [SWNCCOLL] [workload statistics collector]
Symptom
For Release NetWeaver2004s (Basis Release 7.00), we developed a completely new workload statistics collector to meet the requirements of large systems. This newly developed workload statistics collector is incompatible with earlier workload statistics data. After you upgrade to Netweaver2004s, you can no longer display workload statistics data in ST03N that has been entered before the upgrade.
Other terms
ST03N, ST03, workload statistics collector, SWNCCOLL
Reason and Prerequisites
This problem occurs after you upgrade from 4.6C, 6.20 or 6.40 to NetWeaver2004s.
For more information, see Note 1005238.
Solution
To be able to read the workload statistics data from Releases 4.6C, 6.20 or 6.40 after you upgrade to NetWeaver2004s (or higher), you must save this data before you upgrade, convert and import it into the new data store after the upgrade. This note describes the last step of this process: the final conversion of the data in SAP_BASIS 700 (NW2004s) or 710.
This note contains the SWNCMIGRATION1 report as a correction instruction. Manually create the report SWNCMIGRATION1 as an empty report (without a REPORT statement) and implement the correction instructions after you upgrade to SAP_BASIS 700 or 710. In Release 700, use the package SWNC_COLLECTOR or, in Release 710, use the package SWNC_COLL. Carry out the following steps:
1. Temporarily deactivate the SWNCREORG report in the TCOLL table (ST03N: Collector and Performance DB -> Performance Monitor Collector – Execution Times).2. Start the data conversion. To do this, execute the SWNCMIGRATION1 report. The data of the ZWNCMOMIGR table is converted and saved in the SWNCMONI table.3. Check the data in transaction ST03N. The instance names in the workload statistics data get a prefix consisting of the release identification before the upgrade and an underscore. The obsolete data in ST03N is clearly separated from the new data and any confusion can be avoided as a result (for example with month dates). For example: After you upgrade from Release 4.6C to NetWeaver2004, the system displays the workload statistics data of the “abc123_XYZ_42″ instance in ST03N as the data of the “46C_abc123_XYZ_42″ instance.4. Check the retention times of the workload statistics (ST03N: Collector and Performance DB -> Performance Database -> Workload Collector Database -> Control). The retention times are adjusted to the system settings before the upgrade.5. Activate the SWNCREORG report in the TCOLL table again (ST03N: Collector and Performance DB -> Performance Monitor Collector – Execution Times).6. See Note 966309 (Release 7.00) or 966631 (Release 7.10) to check the configuration of the TCOLL table.7. After you have completed the data migration successfully, you can delete the data that is contained in the ZWNCMOMIGR database table.
