Release and Support Strategy of SAP Business Connector 4.8

[] []

Symptom
This note provides information about the support strategy, supported platforms, and required JDKs for SAP Business Connector 4.8 (SAP BC 4.8)
Other terms
SAP Business Connector, SAP BC
Reason and Prerequisites
SAP Business Connector 4.6 and 4.7 go out of support due to the fact that both the supported Java runtime and most of the operating systems have gone out of maintenance.
Solution
1. Support strategy for SAP BC 4.8
SAP Business Connector 4.8 will be made available to customers according to the license agreement for the SAP BC (For details of the agreement see http://service.sap.com/connectors).
End of maintenance for SAP BC 4.8 will be March 31st, 2016.
2. Supported JDKs for SAP BC 4.8
In contrast to SAP BC 4. 7, the installers of SAP BC 4.8 now include a JVM again: SAP JVM 5. This JVM can be used for all three tasks: running the Server, running the Developer and compiling Java Services. It is recommended to use this JVM, because it adds further diagnostic support features and because it is not subject to the end-of-maintenance restrictions of the JVMs of other vendors. Also Note 314678 does no longer need to be implemented: compiling Java Services works out-of-the-box. On production installations, where developing Java Services is not desired, the javac executable should be deleted from the <sapc>\Server\jvm\bin directory.3. Supported operating systems for SAP BC 4.8
SAP BC 4.8 (Server as well as Developer) is supported on the following operating systems:
Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista on x86 (32bit)Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 on x64 (64bit)Linux (SuSE SLES 10 and RedHat RHEL5) on x86 (32bit)Linux (SuSE SLES 10 and RedHat RHEL5) on x86_64 (64bit)
Note:
