Symptom

When you upgrade an SAP R/3 system to a new R/3 standard release, the system requests an additional password for installed add-ons in phase KEY_CHK.

Reason and Prerequisites
1. We are dealing with a ready-to-run installation in your system.2. A release upgrade (generally only repository switch upgrades) is carried out in a system in which at least one SAP R/3 add-on was installed. The upgrade to a new SAP standard release can only be carried out if the upgrade is released for all additional products installed.
This is checked by asking for a password in the phase KEY_CHK.
Solution

For point (2):
For every upgrade to an SAP release, you can find information below concerning the release for the above-mentioned SAP core additional products.
If a reference is made to a note, the SAP add-on is released on this SAP release. This note contains the password and also additional important information on the upgrade.
In all other cases, the SAP release for this SAP R/3 add-on is (still) not released. Cancel the SAP upgrade.
If several additional products are installed in a system, all SAP R/3 add-ons installed must be released first.
Most add-ons will not support functional releases (for example, Release 4.0A or 4.5A).

The banking applications are delivered in 4.0B as add-ons under the term BANKING. The Add-On BANKING includes the components IS-B and FI-BA-CA which are delivered under 3.0F

IS-OIL:

The add-on components IS-OIL Downstream and IS-OIL Upstream delivered under the short text ‘IS OIL’ are split up in separate add-ons, IS-OIL (Downstream) and CA-JVA (Upstream/Joint venture accounting) in Release 4.0B. For already existing IS-OIL installations in IS-OIL Release 2.0d/1.0d (R/3 3.1H), the following upgrade options are planned on R/3 Release 4.0B:
Upgrade to a pure IS-OIL (downstream) system
Upgrade to a pure CA-JVA system
Upgrade to a combined IS-OIL (downstream) + CA-JVA system
