SCM Java components handling by the upgrade program

[] [] []

Symptom
This Note describes what you have to do if you have Store User Interface for SCM (STORE_UI) or SCM Web Communication Layer(SAP-SCMWCL) installed in your system and you want to import SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 or upgrade another Business Suite application installed in your system to Release 7.0 (for example, upgrade from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0).
Other terms
Store User Interface for SCM, SCM Web Communication Layer, SCM Java STOREUI, SCMSUI, STORE_UI,SAP-SCMWCL, SAP-EM-WCL,SCMEMWCL, SAP-EM-WCL
Reason and Prerequisites
Before starting the upgrade, you need to make sure that Store User Interface for SCM (STORE_UI) and SCM Web Communication Layer (SAP-SCMWCL) are not installed in your system. If STORE_UI component is installed in your system, you have to undeploy it and deactivate the SCMSUI and SCMWCL usage types.
If you have installed SCM 5.1 Java, the usage type SCM Web Communication Layer was delivered with the software component SAP-EM-WCL and the usage type renamed to SAP Event Management Web Communication Layer. You have to deactivate the SCMEMWCL usage type.
You can check the installed components in your system under
http://<host>:<httpport>/index.html -> System Information -> all components.
The SCMSUI and SCMWCL (SCMEMWCL in SCM 5.1 Java) usage types can be active only if the NW on your systems is 7.00 or bigger release. You can find active usage types in your NW 7.0x system by checking the http://<host>:<httpport>/utl/UsageTypesInfo page. If you find that these usage types are active in your system, you have to deactivate them before starting the upgrade.
If Java upgrade finds active SCMSUI or SCMWCL/SCMEMWCL usage type in your system, it will fail in phase BIND_SUPPORT_PACKAGES. You will not be able to continue with the upgrade until the SCM Java usage types are marked as active in your database.
Solution
Preparing the upgrade:
1. Check the system information of the Java stack to determine whether Store User Interface for SCM (STORE_UI) is deployed on your system. Use http://<host>:<httpport>/index.html -> System Information -> all components, which shows information about all Java components installed in your system. If the STORE_UI component is available in your system, you have to undeploy it using SDM. Open the SDM and under UNDEPLOYMENT tab page, you can undeploy the STORE_UI component.2. If your SAP NetWeaver release is 7.0x, check whether SCMSUI, SCMWCL, or SCMEMWCL usage type is active in your system. Use the http://<host>:<httpport>/utl/UsageTypesInfo page, which shows information about all active usage types in your system. If this is the case, you have to deactivate the usage types by means of your DB tool and delete the rows with SCMSUI, SCMWCL, or SCMEMWCL value in the PART_NAME column of table BC_SL_ACTIVE_PARTS.3. You can then perform the upgrade.
