Symptom
1. An unexpected behavior occurs in transaction SU05.
Among other things, the new password rules as of SAP NetWeaver 7.00 (see Note 862989) are not supported.
2. The log on of SU05 users is rejected by the system.
The reason for this is that the password rules (profile parameter login/*) were tightened on your system.
Other terms
SU05, ITS, SAP ITS, Internet users, SU01, functions
Reason and Prerequisites
Since the beginning of 2003, SAP has not developed transaction SU05 “Maintain Internet users” any further.
The functionscurrently availableare still supported, but we generally recommend that you avoid using SU05.
Transaction SU05 is no longer delivered in follow-on releases or Enhancement Packages for SAP NetWeaver 7.00.
In addition, the log on of SU05 users will be deactivated with a future kernel patch.
Solution
Functional enhancements are no longer implemented for transaction SU05. The functional scope is neither extended nor reduced, nor is it adapted to related transactions (such as SU01).
If you want to use SU05 users during a transition period, you must not tighten the password rules.
If the current functions of transaction SU05 are insufficient, use transaction SU01 ‘User’.
The relevant migration paths are specific to the applications. An example is available in SAP CRM 4.0.
