Time zone and daylight saving time for Bangladesh

[] [] [] [] [] []

Symptom
In 2009, Bangladesh is introducing a daylight saving time rule.
Daylight saving time applies from June 19, 2009 to September 30, 2009.
Other terms
STZBC, STZGC, time zone, standard time, daylight saving time, DST, Bangladesh, BD
Reason and Prerequisites
This is a legal change.
Solution
From a technical point of view it is therefore necessary to create a new time zone and a new summer time rule, and, in some cases, to adjust the system time zone accordingly.
1. Create the daylight saving time rule “BDT”. To do this, call transaction STZBC to navigate to the view “Summer time rules” or call the relevant IMG activity “Maintain Time Zones” (under “SAP NetWeaver -> General settings -> Maintain Time Zones”).DST rule: BDTSummer time difference: 01:00:00DST rule: BangladeshActive indicator: X2. Go to the view “Fixed Summer time rule” and create a new entry with the following dates:DST rule: BDTValid year: 2009Str.S.time: 20.06.09Strt. time: 00:00:00End SU.time: 30.09.09End time: 01:00:003. Save the change.
If the system displays error message SV 019 ” Choose the key from the allowed namespace”, exit it by choosing “Enter”, and then save the changes.
4. Switch to the view “Time zones” and create the following new time zones:Time zone: BDTName: BangladeshTime zone rule: P0600 (6 hour difference to UTC)DST rule: BDTactive: X
Save the entry.
5. For all entries that include the country Bangladesh (BD), change the geographical assignment of the time zone. To do this, call transaction STZGC or call the IMG and choose “SAP NetWeaver -> General Settings -> Time Zones -> Maintain Geographical Assignments”.
Delete the entry for the country BD (with the time zone UTC+6).
Create a new entry with the following data:Cty: BDTime zone: BDTDefTimeZon: X
6. If you want your SAP system to use the new time zone BDT as the system time zone, use transaction STZAC to change the system time zone or call the IMG and choose “SAP NetWeaver -> General Settings -> Time Zones -> Maintain System Settings”.7. For all master data such as plants, customer and vendor, check whether you must assign the new time zone.
The corrections concerning the implementation of the new time zone (without changing the SAP system time zone and the master data) are available in the attachment to Note 198411 as of Version TZ_2009_V03.
